    [QUOTE=Maestro64]

I think you have that wrong - slightly - they're shutting down the ESPN thing...

"The Walt Disney Co. will spend about $30 million to shut down its Mobile ESPN wireless telephone services, but remains "excited" about its family-oriented Disney Mobile phone service, Disney Chief Financial Officer Tom Staggs said on Monday."

I stand corrected, that is what they are doing, I confused my facts. My comment was based on market researched which felt they did not see Disney being successful with the Disney Family phone considering they failed on the ESPN service which is a similar business plan of being an MVNO. Which means they rent time on existing cell networks.

By the way if Apple can not convice Cingular to sale their phone and get T-mobile and Verizon and other to allow the phones to work on their networks Apple will have to do the MVNO.

Apple may make a great phone with great GUI, but they do not control the networks and if the providers and other cell phone makes want to keep them out they can. Look what happen with the ROKR it was delay 18 months because of the network providers didn't like not making money from music downloads

Try with =ROUND(A1;1)*6-1 and the problem is gone. ;)
That's true. But which spreadsheet user is aware of this? This should be resolved by the app, not by the user.

    Hey,

So I am looking to buy a used/new iPhone. It has to be in good/working condition, has to be 8GB version, and you have to be willing to ship to Canada (which isn't a big deal). And PayPal is a must.

I am offering $370 Shipped OBO.

Either post here, PM me or email me at william@williamwilkinson.com with your offers.

    William

Has anyone find it necessary to close and re-open Chrome, iTunes, and Finder on Mac OSX (SL) from time to time? This applies only if you never turn off your Mac.
I don't use Chrome, but I never have to close and reopen Safari, iTunes, Finder or any other app. The only time I restart is when Software Update requires it.

Interesting question. I do not know the answer.

Can you process only the chapters with one ratio and then the others, and then use iMovie to put them together?

Someone on the 68k Macintosh (http://68kmla.net/forums/index.php?sid=9757cfe5acee5202175ed5f07f335739) forum might be interested. Lots of retro computer guys there are on the lookout for older systems even if they are PPC.

I'd do this. A Powerbook 180 is a great computer, and is of value to anyone into retro Mac stuff. Don't throw it out - at least give it away for free there (you'll have lots of takers). You probably could even sell it for ten or twenty bucks.

I'd buy it from you, but I already have one. :)

Yonah is more expensive than the G4.

iBooks will feature integrated graphics guaranteed. They already have OsX running on the Intel 915 chipset in developer macs. Most cheaper laptops use the same chipset. Apple have no reason not to use it in the iBook. It's a budget product to them.

This will create an immediate differential with the powerbook which will end up using a seperate gfx card.

Don't expect prices to much different across all product lines than they are now. Apple didn't switch to intel because they are cheaper (the new processors aren't) they did so because IBM couldn't keep up with theyre predicted roadmap.

google for Gallery or Coppermine (sorry, no time to get the links right now). Those are pretty popular packages and will fit your criteria fairly well. Haven't used either myself, but have looked at them in the past and they seemed pretty full-featured.

Even people that know the difference between vector and bitmapped graphics have the misconception that screen resolution indepenence depends on vector images. I don't think they are aware of where the GPU technology has gone in the last few years.

It won't be long and we will be rendering all graphic displays lke 3D game engines with virtual worlds and holographic displays.

Someone's been watching too much CSI.

What are the chances of the latter? In a similar thread was made. One of the replies was something to the effect of, "Fat chance... wait until 2011!".

    What do you think? :D

edit- if the serial on the phone matches the box, its the original.

I won't be opening the box if I buy it, that's for sure.

Might not be an answer to this, but does anyone know how much a sealed iPhone 2G might be worth? And may be worth in the future?

Could you describe what values you're trying to teach children by designing an old fashioned newspaper?

Why not try to develop a new kind of newspaper or service?

You're not going to print it out on an old-fashioned press after all.

So what's the point you're trying to make?

Great figures, especially for the PC sales.

The desktop is coming to an end. I'm not surprised - the current 2011 laptops make even better desktop ( exclude Mac Pro ) replacements than before... the graphic cards is the weakspot though.

If Apple sold just over a million desktops, I wonder how many of them where Mac Pros ( so I wonder how long until Apple ditch those :-( ).

Are there any Apple ][ emulators that work on Mac OSX Snow Leopard (preferrably free) and are reasonably uncomplicated to use/set up?

The ones I've come across either don't work (OSX II (http://www.intergalactic.de/pages/OSXII.html) seemed promising, but I can't find any system ROMs that work with it -even the ones suggested in the readme file don't work). Other emulators such as Catakig (http://catakig.sourceforge.net/) don't seem to work either (the disks don't load) although the system ROMs seem to be accepted.

Absolutely not, because this is not what is happening.

What is claimed here is a method of adding the "FairPlay" DRM to music from other stores than iTMS, so that companies other than Apple can sell music with DRM that can _only_ be played with iTunes or an iPod (that is, 80 percent of the market) instead of selling music with Microsoft DRM as they do now (which plays on the other 20 percent of the market).

As an example, the Beatles could use this to sell all their music on the Internet with DRM to iPod owners, without going through the iTunes Music Store. They could make more money that way; for the iTunes user or iPod owner there would be no difference.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

i just checked, and it looks like if you go to iphone.org, the url no longer is redirected to "apple.com", but the url stays as "iphone.org" and loads apple's homepage. the hyperlinks throughout the page are also "iphone.org/ipodnano",etc. does this mean apple's moving to make iphone.org a real website?????

I was there printing a paper this summer and they had this new stupid payment system for laser prints, it takes money out of a debit-style account (not bank related) everyone has. The Macs (15 iMacs in a room of 50 Dells) were not set up with the system, but I was told they would in the fall. I had to go run and get some paper to use with the printers the Macs were networked to.

Well, it's now fall. I came to the lab and found all the iMacs replaced with new Dells. There were a couple iMacs still there, but they were unhooked and turned with their screens facing the wall, crowded behind the Dells sitting in their places.

I bet the univeristy found they couldn't integrate the iMacs into their printing scheme easily and since bringing your own paper is much cheaper per sheet than paying 8 cents a page felt they had to remove the Macs.

So now I'm pissed. I used to work on papers at home and save them on my iDisk and access them for further editing and printing at school. But I can't access my iDisk from the PC's (they have network drive mapping locked up). Plus I'm just angry in general about them getting rid of all the Macs.

I was going to get a Powerbook when Tiger was released, but now I'm thinking of getting an old G3 iBook until then so I can still use a Mac on campus (Wi Fi all over the Union and libraries).
